The Aman Resort Way of Life

Bodrum, Turkey and specifically the Amanruya, is the perfect destination to relax after our crossing of the Atlantic, the tours in Vienna and in preparation for our next continent. 

Centuries of history and the Aman Resorts zen touch makes this place a great stop!

Arrival into Bodrum-Milas and the Amanruya Hotel

It was a great flight with beautiful sites and a number of different stations along the way. The controllers spoke great English and gave us a clear direct routing.

Our departure out of Vienna was quite nice since the airport is not under slot control and same goes for Bodrum, so we are free to cruise as we please.

Our Discovery of Vienna

Lorne and Lynn Brett are meeting us in Vienna, Austria for the East Africa portion of our Journey.

Vienna is a beautiful city and we are staying at the famous "Imperial Hotel" located right on the city ring.


We are ready to discover Austria's national dish, the Wiener Schnitzel, a very thin, breaded and deep fried Schnitzel from veal.

Always ready for good food and great company

We went to the Vienna Opera for a little impromptu music concerto of famous Classical music and we were lucky enough to be in the front row.

The next day our Guide Bernard took us on an exciting walking tour of Vienna. The weather wasn't great but we were protected from the rain by the nice umbrellas from our hotel

The first stop was the St Charles church. A very interesting place! For 10 years now, tourists are allowed to access the dome via an elevator erected in the middle of the church. Very neat seeing the painting and fresca so close!

No visit of Vienna is complete without sampling the collection of pastries...we really did enjoy them

We are getting ready for our second day of discovering Vienna with the Belvedere and Schonbrunn Palaces.

Built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy, the Belvedere is located south-east of the city center, in the 3rd district. This historic building complex consists of two Baroque palaces (the Upper and Lower Belvedere), the Orangery and the Palace Stables.

After the Belvedere, we continued our tour to the former imperial summer residence, the Schonbrunn Palace. It is one of the most important cultural monuments in the country illustrating the tastes, interests and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.

Dinner was at the Sofitel roof top restaurant called "The Loft," offering uncanny views of Vienna while enjoying a gourmet meal. Not to mention an impressive wine cellar!
