A Gem in the Indian Ocean, Quilalea Island Near Pemba

In our previous Journey to Africa we visited Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania. I was not too thrilled about the destination so decided to make a change. This year we needed a place to relax after the game dives in the Masai Mara...

Enter Quilalea Private Island off the coast of Mozambique, north of Pemba. Imagine remote and unspoiled islands, deserted white sand beaches, sparkling turquoise seas, long hot sunny days and star studded nights, this is the place!

What Air Journey service! Direct from the Mustang to the Bell 206 helicopter for a 20 min flight to the private island of Quilalea at 1000 feet. Sophie is in heaven and has decided this is the way to travel!

Since we have some water to cross all of us have to wear life vests

Here we go with the first departure.

I flew with Renee and Jeffery on the second flight since the Bell helicopter can only take 3 passengers and their luggage....plus we aren't exactly traveling light!

Man what a sight, I have never done this type of travel before...my own island for the next 3 days and transfer by helicopter

Happy Crew
