What a Journey !!!

Never in my flying life, I would have dream of flying in a Jet all the way from Florida to CapeTown and return.

What an adventure, what a Bucket list maker....and the best part is that I am ready to do another journey.

2014 will give us the opportunity to fly to South America as a first adventure and then the Journey Around the World.

I am far away from my first long distance flight in the V35 Bonanza, F-BTAT in the late seventy flying non stop in 4 hours between my then home town of Lille (LFQQ) to Figari in Corsica (LFKF)

Our Return journey

Then with Stuart Auerbach, we did embark on a fast return to the US, CapeTown to Coeur d'Alene in 6 days, via Europe and the crossing of the Atlantic.

To CapeTown and Final destination for Sophie, Lynn and Lorne.

Cape Town (AfrikaansKaapstad [ˈkɑːpstɐt]XhosaiKapa) is the second-most populous city in South Africa, afterJohannesburg,[3] and the provincial capital and primate city of the Western Cape. As the seat of the National Parliament, it is also the legislative capital of the country. It forms part of the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality. The city is famous forits harbour as well as its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom, as well as for such well-known landmarks as Table Mountainand Cape Point.
Located on the shore of Table Bay, Cape Town was originally developed by the Dutch East India Company as a victualling (supply) station for Dutch ships sailing to East AfricaIndia, and the Far EastJan van Riebeeck's arrival on 6 April 1652 established the first permanent European settlement in South Africa. Cape Town quickly outgrew its original purpose as the first European outpost at the Castle of Good Hope, becoming the economic and cultural hub of the Cape Colony. Until theWitwatersrand Gold Rush and the development of Johannesburg, Cape Town was the largest city in South Africa. Today it is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, reflecting its role as a major destination for immigrants and expatriates to South Africa. As of 2011 the metropolitan region had an estimated population of 3.74 million

Tshukudu Lodge

shukudu – Above the African Plains. Nestled against the side of a hill surrounded by the mountains of the Pilanesburg National Park; overlooking a waterhole and savannah plain, lies Tshukudu, one of Africa’s most romantic game lodges, nestled within the remains of an extinct volcano. Game traverse the plane below and Big Five sightings are the norm rather than the exception. Each custom designed chalet offers a romantic sunken bath, an open plan lounge and bedroom, with a fireplace and private balcony. Tshukudu is known for its five star service, bushveld experience, the quality of field guides and uniqueness of its African inspired cuisine.

This is our home for the next 3 nights, to visit this part of the Game Reserve.

We are very close to the Sun City Complex but still in the wild.

The Flight to South Africa, Lanseria Airport

This is the first leg with 5 of us onboard the Mustang. Fuel usage is computed very carefully using the WSI Optima program that gives us the usage for the leg based on the altitude and the wind aloft.

Here is our brief for this leg:

Amazing what we have done so far. If someone would have told me that one day I would be flying a plane to South Africa....I would answer "in my wildest dreams", but here I am today.

3 countries and FL360 for the leg

Lanseria is one of the airports servicing Johannesburg in South Africa
